Privacy policy

The short version

  • Student data stays on the teacher's computer. We never receive class lists, names, scores or answers.
  • We keep only what we need to deliver and support your licence: the name on the licence, your email and the order number.
  • We do not sell data, and we do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Using the hub and the games

Classes, questions, scores, plans and settings are saved in your browser's storage on your computer. They are not sent to us. You can delete them by clearing the site data in your browser, and back them up with the backup file option in Class Lists.

When you add a licence key, the browser sends it to our server once. The server checks it and stores it in a secure cookie on app.classnaut.com and retro.classnaut.com, so paid lessons open. This cookie is needed for the service and is not used for tracking.

Optional features that contact other services

  • AI features you switch on with your own API key send the text you ask about directly from your browser to that provider, such as Google Gemini or OpenRouter, under their terms. We do not see it.
  • The essay coach can download an AI model from Hugging Face the first time you use it. After that it runs on your computer.
  • The early access form sends the email address you type to our mailing list provider, Kit.

Buying a licence

Purchases and automatic licence delivery are not enabled in this preview. The following describes the intended setup when sales open.

Paddle.com is our Merchant of Record. Paddle collects your payment details, billing address and tax information and processes them under the Paddle privacy policy. We never see your card details.

Paddle shares your name, email and order details with us. We store the licence record (name on the licence, email, order number, licence ID, packs and date) on Cloudflare servers so we can show your key, resend it and handle refunds.

Hosting

Our websites run on Cloudflare. A separate Hong Kong address is planned and is not part of this preview. These providers process technical data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and stop attacks. We do not use this data to identify you.

How long we keep it

We keep licence records for as long as the licence exists, so we can support it, and as long as tax law requires. Ask us to delete your record and we will, though the licence then cannot be recovered or verified by us.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Write to [email protected]. We answer within 30 days. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.

International transfers

Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States, the European Union and Hong Kong. They use the safeguards required by the laws that apply to them.

Children

Classnaut is bought and run by teachers. We do not knowingly collect personal data from students.

Changes

We will update the date at the top when this policy changes.
